The End of June

Mom and Dad bought a new pan set for the trailer.  A few months ago, Mom found a tile with a saying on it, with sticker letters that were coming off.   I dug off all the rest of the stickers. We got some chipboard letters at Hobby Lobby and I glued them on this week. I took down the Strawberry decorations and decorated the house for July with flags and fireworks.

Our visiting teachers came on Tuesday and brought us a flag with a cup full of blue, red, and white M & M's for the 4th of July.

Mom had to go have a CT scan for her stomach pain after eating.  The results show she has a small hiatal hernia, a 2.3 cm lesion in her liver, diverticulitis, and Ground glass opacity in her lungs.  No problems with the other organs, they were concerned about.   She also had to go get her blood check a couple of days after the CT Scan.

I got Modern Family Season 1 on DVD as a white elephant gift at our family Christmas party, so I have been watching it this week.  I watched the movie, W.,about George W. Bush.  I read the books, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, Margarettown by Gabrielle Zevin,  True Believer by Nicholas Sparks.

Anderson Cove

On Thursday, I went with Mom to her Ultrasound appointment, to check her gallbladder.  Her results came back normal, so I don't know what her doctor is going to advise her to do next.  We then went to Walgreens to get Mom a hot water bottle for her stomach pain to take in the RV.  We went to KMart and Mom bought a comforter for the RV, some cat toys, and a moose statue for her backyard.  We went to Walmart and got harnesses for the cats and some carrots.

When Dad came home, we boarded the cats in their carriers and  I sat on the porch with them while Dad tried to bring the trailer and the truck out of the backyard.   We drove up to Anderson Cove at Pineview Reservoir.  During the drive, Daisy was fine but Shadow seemed to be dehydrated, so we kept rubbing ice cubes on them.

When we arrived at Anderson Cove, we were given spot 55.  When we drove to the spot, someone had parked their suburban and jet skis in our space.  We drove back to the front office and the maintenance guy told dad to go around this roundabout.  As Dad was rounding the roundabout to go back to our space, he hit the trailer into a small cement pole, ripping some of the aluminum of the side of the trailer and smashing the storage door.  The maintenance guy made the people move their car, so we could have our space.  Dad had to take off the aluminum that was torn and the storage door.

In our spot, we had a nice view of the lake.  Shadow slept under the bed in the trailer most of the day, while Daisy was out and about looking through all the windows.  I read the book, Dinner Club by Curtis Taylor.  We ate hamburgers, macaroni salad, and watermelon for dinner.  We had dutch oven cherry cobbler and smores for dessert.

On Friday, we had pancakes, bacon, and eggs for breakfast.  I read the book, Push by Sapphire. We packed up all of our stuff and headed home.  Shadow was fine on the way home, but Daisy meowed a lot.  Shadow was in his carrier on my lap, sleeping on my right hand.  Daisy was on the pillow next to me, sleeping on my left hand.  Dad got the ladder out and was trying to fix where the awning tore.  When he got off the ladder, the ladder fell inwards and broke the fiber glass window in the door.  Poor dad!  I read the book, Sweet Valley Confidential by Francine Pascal.

Father's Day

Sunday was Father's Day.  I got Dad a gift card to Outback Steakhouse, one of his favorite restaurants.  Some guy came and bought Dad's spare tire from the truck for 5 dollars.  Mom sewed tan colored valances to put in the bedroom windows of the RV for him.  He bought himself a Camp stove.   Dad sold his hitch trailer a hour and 55 minutes after he placed the ad on KSL.  He also sold a spare tire from his old truck for 5 dollars to a guy who spoke little English.  On Wednesday, we went to Dad's DISA picnic at Roy North Park, which was catered by Costa Vida, one of our favorites.

Mom had to go to the doctor a lot this week. On Friday, Dad and I went with Mom see her neurologist's Nurse Practitioner in Salt Lake City for a check up after the steroids.  On Monday, I went with Mom to see her family practice doctor about her stomach pain.  The doctor had her take a blood test to make sure her gallbladder isn't what is causing the pain.  On Tuesday, Mom and Dad went to hear a neurologist speak about M.S. at the Hilton in Salt Lake City.

I fixed some of Mom's crafts.  I glued back on a wooden tree and moose to Mom's paddle and hung it in her kitchen.  I repainted her Moose crossing sign, where the paint was coming off.  I glued paws and ears and a fish back onto her wooden black bear.

I read the books, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith, Almost Moon by Alice Sebold, Might as Well Laugh About It Now by Marie Osmond, and 666 Park Avenue by Gabriella Pierce.  I watched the movies, War Horse, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and This Means War.

Flag Day

On Tuesday June 5th, It was very windy and rainy.  I had to go out and tie a tree back to its metal holder, so it wouldn't break in half.  Mom and I went to La Di Da in Kaysville, a store selling scrapbook supplies and jewelry.  She bought some glitter to put on scrapbook paper that goes on wooden letters, a flag necklace, and some flag earrings.

We went to Blaine Jensen RV and got a silverware holder, a paper towel roll, and some shelf bars for the RV.  I put all the silverware into the holder.  I put all the spices in the cupboard and installed the shelf bars.  While I was in there, Daisy actually came in to smell it and dug the recliner with her declawed paws, running out.  Mom bought a bean bag toss game to take with us camping.  We took the comforter and pillow shams to be dry cleaned.  We went to Wal-mart and got a toaster, a mixer, shower gel, tooth brush holder, hangers, and a cheese grater.  We're going to change the curtains, bedding, and headboard fabric to a neutral color, instead of the blue and tan pattern it currently has.  Daisy keeps waiting on the RV steps to go in, like she's ready to go camping.  We watched the movie, RV, with Robin Williams, to prepare for our upcoming trips.

I went with Mom to see her Pulmonologist in Ogden on Wednesday.  While she was in the room waiting for the doctor to come back, she had a tremor because the room was so cold.  She had to borrow my jacket to put over her legs and had a hospital gown covering her arms. Today, Mom and Dad went to her MS Support group meeting in Centerville.

I was klutzy again.  I took Shadow out in front to get the mail in the morning and a piece of bark went through my shoe and stabbed me in the foot.  I went to get Daisy out of the recliner and stubbed my other foot against the magazine rack.  I smacked my head on the cupboard door looking through our cds.  I smacked my head on the car, trying to get coupons out of the glove compartment.  I hurt my heel walking on the deck.

Shadow had a rough day on Monday June 11th.  I let the cats out in the morning, because they were antsy.  When I went to check on them, Shadow was over swatting at an metal and plastic flag in the yard.  He came in from outside with a bloody paw.  He must have punctured his paw.  We tried to put gauze, neosporin, and band aids on his paw and he was scared of it.  He kept trying to bite it off and running away from his own paw.  I washed his paw with clean water and made him sit on a hand towel until it stopped bleeding.  He also kept throwing up grass and meat for the rest of the day.  Poor Kitty!  Until he heals, he can't go outside.   It's really tough, because Daisy wants to go outside and when we let her out, Shadow just looks at us like we are being mean to him and meows at the door.

I made chicken in the crock pot, with rice and broccoli.  I made 2 strawberry pies using Danish Dessert and a graham cracker crust.  I made Chicken Salad Sandwiches.

I read the books, Dear Enemy by Jean Webster, Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Simonson, Summer People by Brian Groh, Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot, and Witches of East End by Melissa De La Cruz.  I watched the movie, The Abyss, Cars 2, The Wolfman, Chronicle, and The Art of Getting By.

Memorial Day

Daisy has been sleeping upstairs this week and has been able to bond with Shadow.  Shadow likes to follow her everywhere and chase her tail. Daisy went outside for the first time by herself.  She spent a couple of hours playing with Shadow in the backyard, watching the sprinklers. At first the two cats kept me up most of night, meowing and running around the house.  Now Daisy sleeps in my computer chair, while Shadow sleeps on the bed with me.  One of the cats kicked me in the stomach during the middle of the night with their back paws, as they were jumping off the bed.   Daisy even used Shadow's litter box and he didn't seem to mind it, because he used it right after her. We had to put blocks under the gates of the fence, because Daisy kept climbing under them and going into the front yard.  What silly cats!

Friday May 25th was the two year anniversary of our cat, Patches's death.  I think about her every time I go out to the garden. It still is very sad to see her little plaque and cat statue in the backyard where she is buried.  I miss her sometimes.   Saturday May 26th was the two year anniversary of us adopting Shadow from the animal shelter.  He has been such a good cat and hilarious with his antics.

I went with Mom to see her Neurologist MA in Salt Lake City on Monday afternoon. She had to have two rounds of steroids on Tuesday and Wednesday in Ogden and Dad went with her. Mom had a long lasting stomach ache for several days as a side effect of her Steroids, and she wasn't able to sleep through the night or eat hardly anything.

I was such a Klutz on Thursday.  I banged my head against the wall and the car, smacked my leg into the credenza, and smacked my arm into the bar under the couch.   I decorated the house with Strawberry crafts for June, such as tablerunners, bells, jars, and plates.  I broke my bedroom night stand lamp, turning my chair around so Daisy could sit in it, so I had to get a new lamp.  I didn't do much cooking this week.

I cooked a lot of things.  I made my Grandma's potato salad for dinner on Monday.   I made Chicken Cordon Bleus in the crock pot with a homemade sauce and mashed potatoes on Thursday.  I made Pork Chops with ranch and chicken dressing in the crock pot and cheesy mashed potatoes for Memorial Day. I made a meat sauce from scratch and served it with penne.

We have been buying stuff to go into the RV, such as kitchenware, towels, towel racks, etc.  I have loaded games, travel books, pans, silverware, spices, and Tupperware into the cupboards.

Dad cleaned out his white truck and got it ready for being sold, so he can buy a better truck to pull the fifth wheel.  Dad sold his truck to the first person who responded to his ad on Friday. Dad finished the deal on his new truck with the seller and GMC and was able to bring it home on Wednesday. We took the truck for a ride and got some ice cream on Thursday.  It's a Silverado, with leather seats, 4 doors, and has a fifth wheel hookup in the bed.  Dad took his truck to work on Friday, cause his co-workers wanted to see it.  His friend from work came over and showed how to hook the fifth wheel onto the truck and test drove it with him.

Our neighbors have nice to us.  They brought us some chocolate oatmeal squares. Our visiting teachers brought us some chocolate chip cookies, a bookmark, and a quote about forgiveness from President Uchtdorf.

On Memorial Day, we drove up to Ogden and North Ogden to put flowers on both sets of Grandparent's graves.  We passed a church offering Drive-Thru Prayers in North Ogden.  Afterwards we went to Denny's for a late Breakfast.

I read a lot on my ipad the past two weeks.  I read Ann Veronica by H.G. Wells, The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, Alicia: My Story by Alicia Appleman-Jurman,  13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson, The Maze Runner by James Dashner, and This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen,   The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, These is My Words by Nancy Turner, and Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.. We watched the movies, Abduction, The Beaver, Crazy Stupid Love, Pandorum, Restless, and The Vow.
