Olive Oil and a Wedding

On Tuesday,  We went and got groceries.  I had the grocery list in my hand and after I put mom's scooter together,  I couldn't remember what I did with the list.  I searched my purse, the car, under the car, and under the cars next to us.  As we were walking away from the car, I remembered I put it in my pocket. Mom dried some more bananas and strawberries.  She bought some dried blueberries and cherries at the store, to see what they tasted like.

I read Beach Street Knitting and Yarn Club by Gil McNeil.

I saw on CNN, that a new study shows olive oil is good for dry skin.  They said to mix 2 tablespoons of the oil with 2 tablespoons of water and then massage into your face or other dry areas and then remove with a hot washcloth.  I tried it and it made the skin pretty moist for a couple of days.  I also read online that olive oil is good to wash your hair with.  I tried it, but my hair didn't feel any different.

On Wednesday,  our visiting teachers came to visit.

On Thursday, was my brother Ryan's fiance, Sara's birthday. We mailed her a card and a Visa gift card.  Mom and I went to the post office to mail Ryan some dried pineapple, strawberries, and bananas, so he could try them.  Dad went and took his tax preparer test at the U of U and passed.

My cousin Lindsey got married in the Salt Lake City temple on Friday morning to a guy named Kyle. Dad and Mom picked me up after they went to the wedding to go to the luncheon in the afternoon at a chapel in Roy. They had a Mexican themed luncheon, with a build your own burrito bar and sundae bar, pastel plates and cups, and a pair of maracas to shake when you wanted the bride and groom to kiss.  I spilled black beans and a piece of lettuce on my dress so I had to change when we got home.  Dad took some shrubbery he had cut down to the dumps. Then we went to their reception at a chapel in Clinton  in the evening, where their families live. We got them a gift card to Walmart as a present, since we already got her a smoothie blender for her bridal shower. We got there before the line had formed, so we talked to them and then sat down.  They had chicken salad sandwiches and mini strawberry cheesecakes.  Lindsey's colors were pastels, most featuring black, white, and pink.

Tax Day and Earth Day

The Kildear birds came back and they have laid 4 eggs in the pit of our tree in our backyard just like they did last year. Shadow chased one bird who flew in and then he realized what it was and ran back to the deck scared, which was really funny. Dad was out there trying to chase them away when he got home. By Friday, the eggs were gone so they must have hatched.

On Tuesday, Mom and I went to lunch at Marie Callendar's with a woman in our ward, named Amber. It was fun getting to know her better. Tuesday was also the end of tax season, so Dad is done for the season, with the exception of the people who extended.

On Wednesday, I watched the movie, Dream House.

On Thursday, Dad went with Mom to the Centerville Library to attend an MS Support Group. There were 6 people at the meeting. They went and had Chinese food at Pei Wei in Bountiful before it started.

Friday was the 13th anniversary of the Columbine shootings. I was a junior in high school when it happened and I remembered not wanting to go to school the next day for fear someone would try and copy the shooters locally. It is always terrible to see or hear about kids wanting to kill the other kids at their school because of the bullying and pain they have gone through. We went to Kohl's, because Mom had coupons. They have remodeled the store in Clinton, adding chairs, shelves, curtains, and lamps.

On Saturday, We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory at Trolley Square in SLC for dinner. Afterwards we went to the Sunflower Farmer's Market and got some fruit to dehydrate. We went to the Kohl's in Layton because Dad needed some dress shirts. When we came home, we watched the movie, Puss in Boots.

Sunday was Earth Day. I watched the movie, The Towering Inferno.  Sara's parents (Ryan's future in-laws), who are a mission in Calgary, called to chat with my parents about the engaged couple.  They talked for about an half an hour.

Birthday and Engagement

Tuesday was Dad's birthday. He turned 56 years old. I got Dad a gift card for Subway. Mom got him some blue memory foam slippers from Walmart and a white long sleeve dress shirt from Macy's. She also bought him a birthday card that says, "90 is a Special Birthday!" Mom also baked him a blueberry pie as a a birthday cake.

On Thursday, I went with Mom to Apria in Ogden to get a new sealer for her CPAP mask. Afterwards we went to Quilted Bear at the Newgate Mall and Mom bought some charms and a wooden Moose. At night, I went with Mom to the Centerville Library to attend an MS Support Group, but unfortunately we had the wrong Thursday.

I went for a walk in the backyard and took my cat, Shadow out with me. He kept hopping sideways over to the trees and grabbing them with his front paws. Then he would see me and hop over to me and dig my leg. I also watched the movies, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, The Iron Lady, and Tower Heist.

On Saturday, my brother, Ryan officially proposed to his girlfriend Sara and she said yes. They have been dating on and off for two years. They are planning on getting married in late Summer.

Happy Easter!

On Monday, I made Grandma Cleone's Macaroni and Shrimp Salad.

On Wednesday, I made a no carb Pepperoni Pizza, using Parmesan cheese and cream cheese as the crust. I watched the movie, Hello Dolly!. I also have been watching early One Tree Hill episodes on DVD and Soapnet, because the series aired its final episode on Wednesday. I have watched the show from the first episode, that aired nine seasons ago. It's pretty incredible for a good show that has low ratings to last so long.

Mom bought a food dehydrator on Thursday and has dried banana, mango, strawberry, and pineapple slices in it.

On Friday, we woke up to Snow. It was pretty windy as well. I made Enchilada Pasta, with penne, hamburger, enchilada sauce, tomatoes, and cheese.

On Saturday, We went to the Mall. It seems weird to see FYE and Deseret Book gone. As mom was riding her scooter through the mall entrance, the automatic door hit her and scraped her knee. Dad had to go to the reception of a co-worker's son at the Timbermine. He got the couple a gift card for Walmart. Afterwards we went to the Sizzler and then went and got groceries at Macey's.

Sunday was Easter. For dinner, we had ham, funeral potatoes, asparagus, and deviled eggs. I made a molten lava cake and served it with butter pecan ice cream for dessert. We tried to watch the movie, Like Crazy, but it was boring. I read the book, The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd.

My brother, Ryan and his girlfriend Sara spent Easter weekend in Calgary, Canada. Sara's parents are serving a mission there, so Ryan went up there to meet them and ask her dad for permission to marry Sara before they get officially engaged. Ryan showed us the emerald cut engagement ring to us when we were in California in March and it is a gorgeous ring.

Today, I watched the movie version of The Mermaid Chair. I went into the D.I. while Mom was talking to her brother on her cellphone out in the car. I bought some books and bought Mom some figurines and a Mickey Pumpkin.

General Conference

On Tuesday, Ryan got into a car accident. Some guy in a truck ran a stop sign, hitting Ryan's Senata on the right side, giving Ryan whiplash. The guy pushed Ryan's car out of the way and fled the scene. How horrible! We rode around with him in that car while we were in California. Hopefully the guy who hit him will be caught and justice will prevail. Ryan is already recovering from a broken shoulder and the flu, so this added to his bad luck this year. I'm going to have to mail him a rabbit's foot.

Ever since I came back to Utah, I've been more dizzy. I felt so much better in California because of the lower altitude. The plane ride back was rough because it kept making my ears pop and the turbulence hurt my head. There was also a baby crying in the seat behind me and he kept kicking my seat. It doesn't help that I have a cold and am congested from that. At least I'm not nauseated from it. I just get headaches and feel light headed. I also keep having tingles up the back of my head. I also have been a total klutz this week: getting a splinter while looking through the spice cupboard, scraping my foot on the banister, and ripping my toe nail off on my blanket.

I took down the St. Patrick's Day decorations and put the Easter ones. I put some decorations on the credenza in the foyer and Shadow decided to jump up there and knocked down the lamp again.

I read, Wildwater Walking Club by Clare Cook, Hearts of the Children: The Writing on the Wall by Dean Hughes, and Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. I watched the movies, The Muppets and Moneyball.

I've been baking and cooking a lot this week. On Thursday, I made Cheesy Garlic sticks from scratch. On Friday, I made whole wheat penne with chicken, bruschetta, cheddar cheese, and Alfredo sauce. On Sunday, I made Chicken Cordon Bleus with loaded mashed potatoes.

Saturday was the first day of General Conference. I liked the talk about how we are being polished when we are given trials on Saturday Morning. My cousin Shelley's son, Cody, was in the Missionary Choir with David Archuleta, who performed on the Saturday afternoon session. After the priesthood session, Dad took us to Red Lobster, where we ran in one of mom's old friends, Janis.

Today was the second day of General Conference. I liked Uchtdorf's message about forgiveness on Sunday Morning.
