Merry Christmas!

On Christmas Eve, I made deviled eggs and veggie dip. Mom and I went to Tai Pan Trading, Shopko, and Hobby Lobby to find Pickle ornaments to give to family members. We found them at Tai Pan. Dad picked Ryan up from the airport in the afternoon. For dinner, we had deviled eggs, lil smokies, shrimp, pizza rolls, mozzarella sticks, Macaroni and Shrimp Salad, and the Rice Krispie treats. We watched Christmas with the Kranks and The Family Man. Afterwards, we went to see the lights at Layton Park.

Today was Christmas Day. We went to Sacrament Meeting, because that was the only meeting being held. The choir and the primary put on a Christmas program, with hymns, for the congregation to sing along. We introduced Ryan to our visiting teacher and a neighbor. Dad made us Cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

I got Dad a white dress shirt, turquoise striped tie, and an old hole puncher, we found in a box, as a joke because one year, he gave me a hole puncher and stapler as Christmas gifts. I also printed out a picture of Shadow and put it in a frame for him. Mom got Dad some white shirts, gift cards to his favorite restaurants, 17 Miracles on DVD, a hair trimmer, some Taylor Swift DVDs, a Taylor Swift calendar, a remote control helicopter, and a figure of Jesus with little children, teaching them to fish, because he likes to quote that scripture often. Ryan got Dad a mouse.

I got Ryan a air soccer game, a DVD, and a golf putting cup. Dad and Mom got Ryan some new Snowboarding jacket and gloves, 17 Miracles on DVD, and some Ipad speakers, a cap gun, and a roll up keyboard. Mom gave him and Dad Candy coal in his stocking, because one year he gave her an actual box of coal, because he was mad at her. Ryan got me am scroll pad.

I got Mom a forever lazy blanket, a gold hourglass necklace, gold key bracelet, and a DVD. Dad got Mom some pistachios, a robe, some gift cards, a bracelet, some earrings, and some new luggage. Ryan got mom a necklace and A She & Him Christmas CD.

Dad and Mom got me three books, some blue dress pants, a grey skirt with a black belt, five DVDs, a side sleeper Pillow, a wooden palm tree sign, a metal cat candle holder, a wall hanging with real seashells, itunes gift cards, a carousel horse puzzle, a coloring book with crayons, some bubbles, some card games, A Star Wars pez dispenser, and an iPAD with a black case. Mom gave Shadow some feathers on sticks to play with, as a Christmas gift.

For Christmas dinner, we had funeral potatoes, ham, and peas. We watched 17 Miracles again, so Ryan could watch it. I downloaded stuff on my Ipad and downloaded the CD mom got to her ipod, while watching the movie, Midnight in Paris.

On Monday, We spent the morning, cleaning the house. We all went to Sam's Club, Big 5 Sporting Goods, and the Mall. Ryan bought me a pink Ipad magnetic cover and Dad some tennis shoes, because the scroll pad and mouse he got us don't work with PC's. Ryan and I went to see Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and I thought it was great. Afterwards, we ate lunch at Crown Burger.

We had a Family Christmas Party with my dad's side of the family at our house. We had twenty three guests. We served sandwiches and a fruit slush. People brought a green salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, drinks, chips, pumpkin pie, and chocolate chip cookies. Dad told some Christmas jokes. We gave out White Elephant gifts: a pig Pez dispenser, a wooden Reindeer, Chocolates, and a glass tree Nativity scene. In return, I got Modern Family Season 1 on DVD, Ryan got a notepad and a squirt gun, Dad got some chocolate covered pretzels, and Mom got some bowling socks and a Spicy V8 can. Mom gave everyone the Christmas Pickle ornaments and told them the legend behind it. It was nice to have a party this year with them, since we weren't able to have one last year because of Mom's bronchitis.

Today, Dad took Ryan to the airport in the morning, so he could fly back to California. He had to leave his cap gun, since he wasn't checking in any baggage. I watched the movie, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

Preparing for Christmas

On Saturday, I wrapped some white elephant gifts for our two upcoming parties. Mom and Dad went to the Outback Steakhouse with three couples from our old ward, whom Dad served in the Bishopric with. Afterwards, they all went to the Crews's house and had dessert. They gave each of the three couples a snow globe I made as a gift with some Hershey Kisses. They found out a lady who we served in the nursery with in that ward, has cancer in two organs of her body. That was very sad to hear. She is such a nice lady.

On Sunday, I baked gingerbread cookies. We gave out two snow globes to our closest neighbors as Christmas presents. We watched the movies, Muppet's Christmas Carol and Muppets Take Manhattan. Our home teacher brought us some mint and snicker doodle cookies.

On Monday, Dad took four of the snow globes, I made, to give to his coworkers for Christmas. Mom kept the one with Santa holding a Teddy Bear cause she liked that one the best. We went and picked Mom's car up from the shop. Then we went to the Thatcher Christmas Party at the Weber State Alumni Center. We had to each bring a white elephant gift. We had two DVDS and a Bread CD, that we already had, so we wrapped those and took them to the party. As gifts, Dad got a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, Mom got a Christmas Pickle decoration, and I got a U of U light, a Croissant with a Cappuccino mouse pad, and a Pig Pez dispenser. Mom and I made a yellow cake with caramel sauce, whip cream, condensed milk, and Butterfinger crumbs to take as our potluck, a recipe she found on Pinterest. It was weird being up at the Weber campus, after having graduated earlier this year. Last time I was in the Alumni center, was to pick up my cap and gown in April.

On Tuesday, I assembled the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I took Shadow out to get the mail and he jumped into a pile of snow, for the first time. We watched the movie, 17 Miracles, about the Willie-Martin Handcart company. We also finished watching Home Alone.

On Wednesday, I ordered my cousin, Andrew's book, Heaven on Earth, for my mom. It's about fly fishing and the gospel. Mom and I went to Wal-Mart and I sliced my thumb open unloading groceries from the basket. It got cut on one of the packages of cookies she bought. We went to K-Mart and Mom bought herself a penguin pin and a ruby ring, entwined with gold and silver. She had me run into Seagull Book to get Christmas gifts for Dad and Ryan. I finished wrapping presents when we got home. We got a flyer in the mail from Tai Pan Trading, introducing their Valentine's Day crafts. Way too early! Dad finished up putting together his tax newsletters to mail out.

On Thursday, Dad was off. We went to the Gateway to get Ryan a Christmas gift. Afterwards we ate lunch at Chuck-A-Rama in Bountiful. Then I waited at Willey Honda for my mom and dad to trade in the Ford Edge on a new Honda Pilot. We were there for three hours. We had to take the Edge home, because the Pilot has a huge crack in the windshield, which they have to install.

Today, I started making food for our Christmas Eve feast. I made a Macaroni and Shrimp salad, Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats, and Deviled Eggs. Mom and I went and bought white elephant gifts at the D.I. Mom found a punch bowl, disney dolls, a christmas wall hanging, a snowman window candle holder, and I found some books. Afterwards we went to Sam's Club for lunch. Dad went and picked up the Pilot and dropped off the Edge when he got off work. We went to Crown Burger for dinner and then went to see the Christmas decorations at Walgreens and Dollar Tree.
